Excellent product with great features!, September 2, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Soft Heat Waterproof and Stain Repellant Low-Voltage Electric Heated California King Mattress Pad, White (Kitchen) There are less expensive heated mattress pads available, but this product has several features that make it a super value. The safety of using low-voltage heating wires is a major plus, as is the fact that this pad uses wires that are so thin that they can hardly be felt when trying to find them and completely unnoticeable when slept on. The quick-start function that rapidly brings the pad up to your preset temperature is very handy, as is the automatic shut-off after 10 hours, in case you forget to turn it off manually, or sleep really really late.
I bought it for my 92-year-old mother and while she is not incontinent, the waterproof and stain repellant material is there "just in case." She gets really cold feet and was worried that because this pad doesn't have "zones" like some others, it might not be right for her. Wrong! She's totally comfortable all over with no hot or cold spots.
We also have two dogs who have upon occasion had accidents or upset stomachs... Read more

Previously, we had a traditional heated mattress pad that was AC-powered with wires in the pad that, although hidden, caused ridges to appear on the pad and were felt while in bed. The wires in this pad are too small to be seen or felt, the pad is flat, no ridges, and the heat is over 100% of the pad, not just where a few wires are as with other pads. This cost much more than our old pad, but the warmth, the absence of wires and the safety of DC current make it a great buy.
